Spiralgebunden.Sehr seltene erste Ausgabe von Roths erster Buchveröffentlichung. - Dobke 127 - Gesammelte Werke, Band 20, 1 (hier werden 14 Blatt angegeben). - Eins von ca. 75 (GA ca. 100) Exemplaren (vgl WVZ). - Erschien wohl in verschiedenem Umfang. - "Children's book, originally made as a prototype in 1954, was the first book to be finished. Varying the size of squares and circles and the combinations of colors-red, yellow, blue, and green-a progression of shifting patterns occurs as the reader flips through the book. The use of ring binders invites the viewer to take the book apart and experiment with different sequences and combinations."(Katalog zur MoMa-Ausstellung Roth Time: A Dieter Roth Retrospective 2004. S. 4). - "It's so easy children cannot protest. You push it over to them and they say, 'aaah, circles and squares'. At least that's what I thought, but I think no children have almost seen this book. They would be fantastically bored." (Videointerview von Ira Wool, Chicago 1978). - Ohne Druckvermerk. - Kanten berieben, Tafeln mit verschieden starkem Abklatsch der gegenüberliegenden Seiten, erstes Blatt im linken Rand etwas gebräunt, bei 5 Blättern die beiden oberen Lochungen beschädigt, bei 2 Blättern die unterste Lochung beschädigt.
