Vintages, beidseitig auf Kartons montiert. Paris, um 1880. Abzüge: 9,5 x 17 cm. Kartons: 17,5 x 27 cm. Halblederband der Zeit mit goldgepägtem Rücken- und Deckeltitel (etwas berieben und bestoßen).
Igout (1837-81) ist für seine Serien akademischer Photographien von Akten, mythologischen Szenen, Händespielen etc. berühmt, die von Calavas abgezogen und vertrieben wurden. "Example of the type of photography produced in the nineteenth century as an aid to artists in the study of contour, modeling, and proportion, and as a vocabulary of expression, gesture, and pose sanctioned by the art of antiquity and the Old Masters ... Single prints showing small images ... served as a type of stock catalogue, allowing clients to survey a broad range of possible poses and order larger prints of those which best served their needs."
